The Bay and Esplanade Hotels, Newquay raise £7763.31 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust
The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust has received a cheque for £7763.31 following their Charity of the year Partnership with The Bay and Esplanade Hotels.
The money was raised throughout the year with help from hotel staff, members and visitors. A variety of fundraising events took place including a daring Sky Dive, the Esplanade Hotels All that Glitters Summer Ball, Burns Supper, Fistral Spas Pamper Party and Calendar sales in conjunction with the Newquay Facebook page. The fantastic year of fundraising culminated with the Cornwall Air Ambulance Christmas Party held at The Esplanade Hotel in which local heroes were acknowledged for their contributions to the charity. Other donations came directly from the hotels, with £5 donated from every Essential Fistral Spa Treatment and £1 from every Air Ambulance cocktail.
The money will go towards purchasing new flying suits for the paramedics. Neil Lentern, Paramedic, said, We are all really excited that the Bay and Esplanade Hotels have raised such a fantastic amount enabling us to buy the much needed new suits. We have had our current flying suits for around 3 years and these are now coming to their end of their working life. The new suits will have zips instead of velcro which will be far more comfortable for the paramedics and has the added benefit of improving infection control standards.

Cornwall Air Ambulance receives no local or government funding and relies on the community and businesses like this not only to keep the helicopter flying but to help buy life saving equipment and clothing like the new flying suits

Cornwall Air Ambulance is pleased to handover to international disaster relief Shelterbox as the 2011 Charity of the Year.
