Successful Newquay Hotel Staff prove they have the Competitive Edge….

Members of staff from the Bay Hotel and Esplanade Hotel have successfully completed an autumn/winter training package, entitled ‘The Competitive Edge’.  The suite was designed by Newquay for Excellence Training (NfET) especially for the hospitality sector.

The successful candidates have completed exclusive packages which have been carefully designed to enhance skills, knowledge and experience by combining master classes delivered by industry experts, accredited training and recognised vocational certificates.

The package topics were; Reservations, Food and Drink, Housekeeping, Spa and Management.

Ruth Vincent from NfET says ‘The success of the suite of training packages that we designed exceeded our and businesses expectations. The variety of certificated courses as well as specific master classes proved to be an excellent package that benefited not only the staff but the businesses as well. Training is such an integral part of any industry and making staff feel that they are being invested in benefits all concerned and raises confidence and more importantly the level of customer service offered, this is a vital component for the hospitality industry.  NfET always pride themselves in making sure that the hospitality sector gain from the funding opportunities in the County.’

The packages were funded through the Convergence Programme. Pricilla Samuel Tourism Skill Co-ordinator for The Learning Partnership for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly ‘Tourism Skill Network co-ordinator, Priscilla Samuel said “The  purpose of Convergence funding is to invest in people, business and economic infrastructure in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.  The bespoke suite of packages that were created by NfET show that they are exactly what  the hospitality  industry in Cornwall needs to sustain its’ position as the South West’s number 1 destination of choice for visitors.’
