A great spa day
Reviewed 27 March 2012
My Mothers Day treat, a spa day at The Bay Hotel. A nice swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacozzi. Then upstairs for a head and neck massage. We had the club sandwich which was really nice. It seemed most odd wandering round the bar in a dressing gown though. The staff were lovely, really helpful and kind. The view from the lounge is over Fistral Beach which is amazing. Really recommend the spa day.

During a recent spa break we had a wonderful time. The room, food and spa treatments were excellent. Cannot fault this great hotel. Views are amazing. Lovely staff too. Well done The Bay. See you again soon.
Room Tip: Always request sea view and balcony. Views are amazing. Worth the extra.

10 of us (all female in our 30's) stayed here for a hen weekend. The good points are; the wonderful view, the cleanliness throughout and the decor which is on trend. We had a lovely weekend and it was good value for money but there were a few things letting the hotel down.
FABULOUS STAY

We have just returned from staying at the bay, 10-03-2012 to 13-03-2012 for my birthday we had a great time, we where in the seaview room with balcony, room was a little small so was the bathroom the shower was a bit hit and miss from boiling hot to freezing cold but apart from that it was very clean and the views where fab. From the moment we arrived from the receptionist to the waiting and bar staff they could not do enough for you. All very polite and attentive, food is okay but not amazing but it is still a nice place to eat. The facillities are vary good and we used them everyday we where there. I would recommend this hotel and would definately stay again
Room Tip: Choose a best room.
great sea views and spa
Reviewed 11 March 2012
Visited the bay hotel & Fistral spa on 2.2.2012 to 4.2.2012 we stayed in a best room No.303,Staff extreamly friendly and very nice and really helpfull, as much as we had a lovely time seemed to be a mixed clientell base, as in intermate meals for couples but over our shoulder there was a stag weekend and also a hen weekend and also a group from london Irish rugby club! The room was clean with a single balcony and wonderful sea views overlooking Fistral beach, the room had tea making facilities, hairdryer , large LCD TV and a large bathroom with shower and double ended bath tub, bathroom was rather dark however. The swimming pool is very nice with a Jacuzzi area, steam room and sauna. evening meal in the restaurant was to a very high standard, recommend the scallop starter and 6oz fillet steak, breakfast was not quite so good as a self service was operated, food was hot but one morning no fried eggs, second morning no mushrooms or orange juice or table ready. Sunday lunch was served in the bar area. The hotel at the moment is undergoing some restoration and there was some noise when we arrived on the Friday, but Im sure the front of the hotel will look more appealing once completed. If you like walking turn left out of the hotel over the headland to Crantock beach nice walk!!
If the hotel management read this some tips for improving further:
1. Change the interior doors to the room and inside the room as the brown painted doors are rather tatty looking.
2. Add a TV to the bathroom and also a window over the Bath would be great, firstly to make the bathroom brighter, secondly that sea view is too good not to be seen!
3. Add pay TV channels to buy films to watch selection of digital channels is a bit limited!
4. More hangers on the rail and also wooden ones not a mix of plastic and wood as this cheapens the feel.
5. Free bottles of water are a nice touch but would have been good if there were some nice glasses in the room to use.
6. Sunday lunch meat was very nice, suggest serving the vegetables in separate serving dishes however as you can then take what you like as not everyone likes everything, mix of cauliflower cheese and gravy was not very appealing! On The whole would recomend !!! :-)

I have stayed at the bay several times since 2007 and cannot rate it highly enough each time we go it seems to get better! I have stayed twice this month once with the girls for my hen night and then two weeks later with my new Hubby! The staff are so friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble the staff in the spa are professional and make you feel totally at ease! The hotel over looks fistral bay and is away frm the town centre which suited us fine however if you are expecting wild newquay nightlife this is not the hotel for you however we dont and love it! The food is amazing and the staff so pleasant I can't wait to go again!

Having read some of the reviews, I was a little nervous as we were taking family away as a treat. I cannot understand any negative reviews of this hotel, as in my opinion it was an excellent choice. The views were second to none. Our visit was helped my the superb weather, but the food, service and relaxed atmosphere could not be beaten. Well done Bay Hotel, we will be back as soon as possible. The Hammond family from Plymouth.
Room Tip: Well worth upgrading to a balcony, but the sea view is a must.

Lovely weekend treat
Reviewed 28 February 2012
We have just returned from a "Sunday Spa Special" at The Bay, a treat from our daughter for us to relax and unwind following her departure emigrating to Australia with our grandchildren. On arrival the hotel receptionist was friendly and polite and there was an overall feeling of relaxation and comfort from the onset. Our room was spotlessly clean with amazing views of the sea. The package included evening dinner and breakfast, both of which were excellent, lovely staff throughout. Also included was use of the Spa, so relaxing with the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. To finish the weekend we had the luxurious 55min treatment at Fistral Spa which was just amazing. All areas of the Hotel were very clean and comfortable and we came away feeling a lot more uplifted than when we arrived!! Highly recommended.
Room Tip: Definitely a room with sea views!
Great stay at The Bay
Reviewed 27 February 2012
Stayed at the hotel last weekend for the Caravan Club Dinner Dance. Had booked a sea view and boy am I glad. What a fantastic view to wake up to. On arrival the hotel receptionist was polite and very efficient and asked if we required help with cases which we declined. The room was a nice size and spotlessly clean. I see some people say the bathroom was small, I have no complaint about it, it was perfectly adequate and had everything necessary and the people who came in and cleaned were very efficient. Some people are not happy unless they can find something to moan about. I found the staff very friendly and helpful, especially in the restaurant. I looked at a few other rooms at the back and whilst they did not have a view they were perfectly clean and acceptable. You only sleep in a room for goodness sake, if you want a suite then pay for it.
Being fair, if I had to nit pick I would say the drinks and food in the bar are a bit overpriced but it is a hotel so you expect to pay a little more. Once again if you dont want the service, go self catering and run to Tescos for your food. Could have been a few biscuits with the tea making facilities and although the lift said 6 people I would not like to be in it with 6.
Having said that I would return to this in the future without hesitation and all the others I was with were also satisfied. Overall I would give it 8 out of 10
Room Tip: If it is a special occasion - have the sea view it is fantastic (and I was born and live in Cornwall...
Super views!

Stayed one night here and was allocated a sea view room on the third floor. Sadly it was getting dark when I arrived and was only just getting light when I left but I could well imagine sitting out on the balcony sipping a glass of chilled white and watching the surfers on the Fistral beach just below! In the summer!
What of the rest of the hotel? Well it was a hard choice to rate this three or four star. On the one hand, the rather dated design of the hotel does make life difficult for itself. Sixties style means smallish rooms, lengthy corridors and many of the rooms facing inland despite the stunning location. However, the hotel has been given a more 20th century decor - all creams and browns and the room was clean and appealing. Bathroom was a bit of a disappointment - very basic and again showing its historic roots! The pillows were the most uncomfortable I've had for some time - very hard!
I ate in the restuarant in the evening and for breakfast. The menu was a bit pretentious but food was quite tasty nontheless. The atmosphere was non existant - a huge room with only 5 tables in use - again I would imagine it would feel quite different in peak times.. I was really impressed with the hot poached egg in breadcrumbs though - how do they do that?
What pushed me to rate this hotel four star was my experience of the staff. Without exception the staff were friendly and polite be it reception, spa, bar or in the restaurant. Most seemed young and local and my various requests (new lightbulb in bathroom and a speedy breakfast) were met instantly and with a smile. Spa in general was also very good.
Would I return? Definitely! Chill the white wine on the balcony and I can have a proper look at those views next time!

Amazing birthday break
Reviewed 22 February 2012
Straight away we found a really good value for money option with the valentines package. From the point that we got to the hotel we thought the customer service was very admirable and also the whole hotel was even better than we imagined. Our room was cleaned perfectly and finished with a beautiful sea view which we very much appreciated. The 3 course meal that was included in the package was really lovely and the atmosphere was very good. I found our waitress to be a bit rude but that didnt bother us too much. The surroundings of the hotel were also really cool, we went for an everning walk accross the beach and found a walkway to a very pretty spot. The spa was amazing and the treatment really good but kind of short (salt scrub), Overall a perfectly spent birthday away.
Room Tip: we had a standard room and still had a sea view but for much less money - look into it!!

Very reasonable room rates (February) and free upgrade to sea view so you can watch the crazy surfers in the sea at 8am and -2 degrees! - excellent spa facilities (relaxation and treatment rooms amazing). Nice pool (a little cold), great gym and jacuzzi. Massage very relaxing. Food was OK but not amazing, and a little on the pricey side (remember your money off vouchers that you get when you check in). Overall very clean and modern, large rooms, and fab views once again from bar and restaurant areas. Treat yourselves!

Good Value if at a Special Bargain Price
Reviewed 7 February 2012
We found this special offer on Secret Escapes which was two nights with a three-course meal on both days and use of the spa facilities. Unfortunately it didn't include a sea view, this was an extra £40, however, our room over the kitchens had some weird noises coming out of them so we were upgraded. The sea view is an absolute must, Fistral Beach is wonderful to wake up.
The rooms are good, not deluxe, but okay. The staff are friendly apart from one receptionist who was 'in training' and not customer friendly. The spa is lovely, great steam room. The food was okay, but a bit 'nouvelle cuisine fussy'. Don't order the vedgetable medley, extremely dull. The food didn't feel fresh, and if the owners are reading this I would go more for the rustic cuisine with lots of fresh Cornish vedgetables.
On the whole, a good winter break, but I would have been disappointed if I had paid full price.
Number One in Cornwall
Reviewed 1 February 2012
I've just got back from my second stay at this hotel and I have to say it's now my favourite place to stay in Cornwall.
I didn't use the spa, but the bar area's really nicely done, the restaurant's fantastic - turning out great evening meal's and breakfasts - and the views over Fistral Beach are stunning.
The rooms are clean and perfectly comfortable, although perhaps not as stylish or well equipped (no air con or ironing boards etc) as some you may find in more expensive hotels nearby, but somehow this doesn't matter as the whole place as a really chilled out vibe that means you can't help relax and enjoy.
Staff were really friendly and helpful and the wi-fi was free and really quick, making this hotel a good choice for business travellers like me as well as for holidaymakers and families.
Excellent all round

Once a year me and my mother in law stay at The Bay Hotel and take full advantage of their Sunday Spa Special and our latest stay was this weekend just gone. It is quite simply fantastic value for money. The hotel is always been spotless and the customer service is fantastic you are made to feel really special and welcome. The swimming pool is wonderful- the ceiling is pricked with sparkling star like lights complete with steam room, sauna and jacuzzi and the gym facilities are very good. The food is gorgeous- the 3 course meal included in the package is always very smart and very very tasty.
The bedrooms are spotless, with sea views and you can hear the sea crashing away. The atmosphere is laid back and very relaxing, you can literally feel your stress melting away as soon as you walk in the door and all the staff we have met are lovely.
There are some beautiful walks as soon as you walk out of the hotel. We normally walk across the beautiful Fistral beach(perfect for surfing!) over to the Headland hotel (where The Witches was filmed) and have a coffee then go for walk at watergate bay, all so close it is silly not to visit before we rush back to normality. We cannot praise it's theraputic properties enough! We look forward to coming back!
Room Tip: Any view with a sea view
